KA Cilantro
2006 Pure Spanish Stallion
(Zerena SL x KA Tabasco)
Our newest up-and-coming stallion. Cilantro is Nationals bound in 2008! Main photo by Steve Whalen.
In 2008, Kir-Aim Andalusians proudly introduced our latest home bred superstar, KA Cilantro. He began his show career in 2008 by garnishing Futurity and Halter Championships in the 2 year old colt divisions at the Region 3 show. At the IALHA National Show in Ft. Worth, Cilantro delivered an amazing performance in the 2 & Under Colts class earning a National Top 5 Honor (placing 3rd out of 11) and winning the Best Movement award out of an incredibly talented group.
However, with a pedigree that reads like a “Who’s Who” of National Champions, it comes as no surprise that Cilantro continues to surpass expectations. His sire, KA Tabasco (also a Kir-Aim bred,) is a talented Multi-National Champion in both Halter and many Performance classes including Driving, Saddle Seat, Country Saddle Seat & Show Hack. With his National Championship wins in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008, Tabasco becomes the sixth in an unbroken sire-line of National Champions dating back to Legionario III !!!
Cilantro’s dam, Zerena SL, herself is a National Top 5 driving mare. But it is perhaps her gentle, willing mind that has made Zerena a valuable representative of our driving program as she’s been used in exhibitions as either the swing or lead horse in a rare Random Hitch (3 horses driven in a single line.) Zerena consistently passes to her foals a fantastic mind and Cilantro certainly shares that!
At just two, Cilantro has already reached 15.3H, and we expect him to peak at 16.1H upon full maturity. He’s been blessed with the "hair" gene for which his family tree is famous for. Most exciting for us, seems to be the kind temperament and tremendous willingness to learn for which Andalusians are famous for. With all this, we look forward to starting training for driving and under saddle in 2009.
